Introduction to Game-based Learning

The goal of this advanced workshop is for you to be able to: • Define games, rules of play, and game elements • Understand the potential of games for learning • Apply the game design process to the design of games for learning • Be able to considering cognitive, affective, motivational, and socio-cultural factors During the class, you will: • Design a simple game that can be played via video conference • Read about various aspects of game design and present on several topics in class • Incorporate discussions from class in the design of a game for learning (final project)
